[07-06-2018]
The Brussels offices of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Labour (AK), the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) cordially invite you to our panel discussion:

Fair mobility in the EU labour market:
The contribution of the European Labour Authority in the fight against wage and social dumping in the EU

Thursday, 7th June , 2018, 18.30h
Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the EU
Rue Montoyer 47, 1000 Brussels

On 13 March 2018, the European Commission presented its proposal for a European Labour Authority, an initiative that has been requested by trade unions for a long time.

Against the background of the sharp increase in cross-border employment, the Commission's draft is expressly welcomed by AK, ÖGB and DGB. Many workers and companies, especially in border regions, are severely affected by unfair competition in the context of posting of workers and serious shortcomings of cross-border enforcement of penalties for wage and social dumping.

  • What are the possibilities and limits of an EU Labour Authority to promote better cooperation and coordination between Member State authorities and to facilitate much-needed cross-border enforcement and enforcement of workers' rights?
  • How can the Commission's proposal be further strengthened by the European Parliament and the Council?
  • What is the time horizon until the European Labour Authority actually sees the light of day?

Opening:

Markus Wieser, President AK & ÖGB Lower Austria

On the panel:

Esther Lynch, Confederal Secretary European Trade Union Confederation

Maxime Cerutti, Director Social Affairs, BUSINESSEUROPE

Agnes Jongerius, Member of the European Parliament
