Events
BackOn behalf of the Brussels offices of the German Trade Union Federation (DGB), the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and the Austrian Chamber of Labour (AK EUROPA), we would like to invite you to our joint event "Due Diligence Directive - Law without teeth or effective human rights protection?".
For years, workers’ organisations and civil society organisations have been calling for a strong legal framework to make companies responsible for violations against human rights, and therefore also workers’ rights, along their supply chains. The long-awaited Commission proposal was multiple times delayed and finally presented in February 2022. With the general approach of the Council, reached on the 1st December 2022, and the awaited votes in the European Parliament, it is a crucial moment to discuss the potential of this directive.
Panel discussion with:
MEP Evelyn Regner, Vice-President of the European Parliament (S&D)
Isabelle Schömann, Confederal Secretary of the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC)
Paul de Clerck, Head of the Economic Justice Team at Friends of the Earth Europe (FOEE)
Albert Kruft, Consultant of the Central Works Council & the European Works Council of Solvay
Moderator:
Kerstin Born-Sirkel, Senior Associate at the European Policy Center
The discussion will be held in German and English (with simultaneous interpretation).
We would like to invite you to a reception afterwards.
